Peter Bauer, Chief Executive Officer, Mimecast
The driving force and public face of the business, Peter founded Mimecast in 2002 with CTO, Neil Murray.
With the support of angel investors, loyal customers and a strong management team, Peter has overseen eight years of continual growth. We now have over 250 people globally and more than 3,500 customers, including 50% of the UK’s top 100 law firms.
Peter’s career began in South Africa, where, after studying marketing and founding a successful distribution company, he trained as a Microsoft systems engineer and began working with corporate messaging systems. He founded his first technology company, FAB Technology, in the mid-nineties.
A leading integrator of new internet and messaging technologies, the business grew rapidly and was acquired in 1998 by Idion, a JSE-listed technology business. Peter became Idion Group Managing Director, a role he stayed in until, observing trends in internet business services, he decided to move to the UK.
Nathaniel Borenstein, Chief Scientist, Mimecast
Nathaniel Borenstein is one of the original designers of the MIME protocol for formatting multimedia email. Nathaniel joined Mimecast in 2010 from IBM, where he worked for eight years as a distinguished engineer. Previously, he founded a number of his own businesses including NetPOS.com and First Virtual Holdings.
James Blake, Group Chief Security Officer, Mimecast
James Blake is the Group Chief Security Officer and has overall responsibility for strategic messaging, customer advocacy and community relations. James has over 15 years experience in information security, continuity and storage solutions. James holds a PhD in Information Security Management.
Barry Gill, Enterprise Consultant, Mimecast
Barry Gill is an Enterprise Consultant and has been involved in growing and developing the technology industry sector for over 15 years. Before joining Mimecast in 2005, Barry developed his considerable technical expertise working in senior roles in networking and telecommunications firms. Barry is an open source enthusiast and has been involved in several related groups over the years.
Justin Pirie , Cloud Strategist, Mimecast
Justin Pirie is a Blogger, Analyst and Mimecast’s Director of Content and Communities. Justin is a leading SaaS and Cloud specialist – he authors the influential “This Week in SaaS”, blog and runs the largest SaaS community in the world, with over 30,000 members.
Justin has been in IT over ten years, gravitating towards SaaS over the last five. Before joining Mimecast he was consulting to companies large and small, helping them create successful SaaS products and strategy, and before that he was an officer at Endeavors Technology, the inventors of Application Virtualisation.
Orlando Scott-Cowley, Internet & Messaging Security & Compliance expert, Mimecast
Orlando joined Mimecast in 2006 as their Technical Evangelist. A technologies graduate, with a solid IT Security background and 12 years high level Technical Consultancy experience working with Fortune 100 companies, governments, vendors and resellers.
Orlando joined Mimecast in its infancy and has aided its growth into the USA market. Orlando writes and speaks for influential publications and events in the US on a variety of topics from Compliance, Unified Email Management, Archiving and Security to Continuity; in particular the emergence of Cloud and SaaS technologies.
